The Pre-service Teacher Education Programs which offer the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) degree and the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSEd) degree have updated curricular dimensions and benchmark requirements that are aligned with the CHED prescribed New Teacher Education curriculum reflective of the National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS).
The prospective teachers in the BEEd program undertake a generalist program of study that prepares them to teach across varied learning areas in the elementary education curriculum while the prospective teachers in the BSEd program carry out a specialized training that meets the competency standards of either the English or the Mathematics learning areas.
The formation of teacher-education students of COC-PEN includes mastery of globally relevant skills as well as gives premium to English proficiency, IT competency and values formation. The COC-Phinma Graduates of BEEd, BSEd (English) and BSEd (Mathematics) are then trained to make a difference in the new frontiers of education both in and out of the Philippines as Pre-school, Elementary & Secondary Teachers, College Professors, Consultants for Elementary & Secondary Education, Technical Staff for Educational Planning, Education Policy Formulator, Curriculum and Resource Materials Developers, Instructional Supervisors, Thesis/Dissertation Mentors, Educational Training Officers, Guidance Counselors, Coach and Tutors.
